Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
In the world that is presenting us all with a range of challenges I find it interesting that this week is Harmony Week. At the very heart of this week is the opportunity to focus on how we live together in a world where the needs of others are placed before our own needs. Unfortunately our students have been exposed to the not so good side of humanity where worry and uncertainty has led to examples in the news or at shopping centres where a “me first” mentality becomes the norm. What gives me a sense of grace is the positive examples set by our students, our staff and the wider school community, who in the midst of all the challenges we face, continue to place the needs of others before their own. An example of this was the family who donated hand sanitises for each classroom. A small gesture that highlights the generosity of spirit we have at St Anthony’s.
I would like to reiterate my sincere appreciation to our parent body who have continued to be very supportive as we face the challenges of the Coronavirus (COVID 19). In consultation with the Catholic Education Office we will continue to implement the guidelines and recommendations set down by NSW Department of Health and Catholic Schools NSW that ensure we are providing a safe environment for all our key stakeholders. Today we have sent out a letter from the Director of Schools, Mr Peter Hill and myself, via COMPASS, that provides some key information regarding how we can all continue to support the health and well-being of our students, staff and the wider community.
One of the key challenges is how we, as a school, prepare for the scenario of when students will need to access remote online learning. We already have a number of students who, due to personal circumstances, need to stay at home. Our teaching staff are presently planning for how we can provide learning activities for students who are not attending school or in the scenario of a whole school closure. We aim to keep a clear line of communication, so as circumstances change, we are able to support our students with alternative learning options. As we move forward teachers are currently in the process of planning what this style of learning may look like and we will continue to communicate with parents how we are best able to support this challenging process. If parents have any concerns or enquiries please contact the school office.

A consent form for use of student's images were sent home to every family. Parents signing this form gives St Anthony's permission to celebrate their child's achievements in our newsletters, allows parents to view their child at sporting events or excursions, on posters around the school and Facebook with discretion. If you wish NOT to give permission for your child's image to be used in any of the points 1-6 please tick the NO box, sign and return the form back to school. If this option is picked OR if we Do Not receive a form back for your child, we will remove your child's image from any photo that will be used by St Anthony's. If you require another form please see attached.
Last week our school participated in the Clean Up Schools event. It was a great way to inspire our students to learn about the impact of rubbish on their local environment while playing an active role in their community. On Thursday, the Year Six Environment Group as well as a group of infant children went out with Mrs. Knight and Mrs. Newton to clean up the boardwalk along the creek, the carpark and Saint Mary MacKillop Lane.

We are looking for parents, carers or grandparents who are able to cover books for our school library. I am happy to give you a few tips and we supply the contact. If you are able to help can you please contact the school office for a time to meet with me.
Thank you
Anne Cordingley

The preferred option would be online ordering as the school will not accept cash. If you are unable to order online, payment can be made by cheques/money orders.
