Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
Today we had the opportunity to celebrate our St Anthony’s Feast Day with a wonderful liturgy in the school hall followed by a delicious lunch supplied by the Parents and Friends and then activities in the classroom that centred around the life of St Anthony and our school community. In the absence of Fr Peter, who is not well, the school community worked closely together to provide a very reverent gathering that centred on St Anthony and his message of service and helping others. As a Catholic community, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the gift of gathering as one to listen to the word of God, to respond in prayer and to sing the hymns that tell our story. It is always so pleasing to hear visitors to our school community speak so impressively about the reverence and prayerfulness of the students.
The feast day activities today reminded us all of the joy of belonging to such an inclusive and supportive community. I would like to acknowledge the support of the parent community who set up and organised the delicious Bento boxes. The food was healthy and well received by the students and staff. I would also like to acknowledge our ICT student leadership team who developed some brilliant kahoot trivia questions that our primary students were able to participate in playing.
This weekend we come together as a Parish community to pray for and celebrate with our students in Year Three and other children within the St Anthony’s Parish community, who are making their First Holy Communion. Mass times will be Saturday 18 June at the Vigil 5:00pm and Sunday 19 June at 8:30am. Everyone is most welcome.
The word communion means to be united with; Catholics believe that in Holy Communion we are united in a special way with Jesus Christ. During this week I invite to take a moment to pray for our First Holy Communicants:
Lord Jesus,
Bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time. May it be an initial step into a life-long love of the Eucharist.
Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.
Thank you for their innocence and goodness.
May their hands, extended in anticipation of your Body and Blood, inspire all of us to cherish this sacred sacrament.
Amen.
Take Care
Justin Devlin
Principal
The staff at St Anthony's have notice a high number of students arriving to school late or being picked up early.
Regular attendance by each child is a legal requirement. Therefore, parents and the school must assume the responsibility of regular attendance.
PARENTS ARE ADVISED THAT LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY DEPARTURES ARE DISCOURAGED UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY BECAUSE
- Of the legal requirement of regular school attendance
- Of the interruption to class routines and learning
- Of the negative impact and disruption to children’s learning and development.
While parents are legally responsible for the regular attendance of their children, school staff, monitor part or whole day absences as part of their duty of care.
Please note that students should only be picked up early during school hours in exceptional circumstances.

Please collect and send in your bread clips so we can help with the very worthy cause of funding wheelchairs for vulnerable people in Australia and South Africa and other countries. During Laudato Si’ Week we are reminded of our mission to respond to the cry of the poor. Every contribution that we can make adds up to make a big difference in our world.
Thank you for your support.

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
- Year 2 Sacrament of Penance
- Year 3 Sacrament of the Eucharist
- Year 6 Sacrament of Confirmation
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
Our first Sacrament for 2022 will be First Holy Communion.
