Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
One of the joys of belonging to our St Anthony’s Catholic community is the tradition of the gathering under the COLA each morning to say our school prayer. The words of our school prayer are quiet profound and speak to the very essence of what we aspire to be:
O God,
We honour the memory of St Anthony, your devoted servant.
May his spiritual help make us strong in your service to do good for others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
St Anthony Pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross Mackillop Pray for Us
In the first few weeks of this term Mrs Ferguson and I have had the pleasure to interview new and existing families who are seeking to enrol their child in Kindergarten for 2023. This enrolment process always provides the school with the wonderful opportunity to gain feedback, both positive and constructive, about the school. It has been very affirming to hear how St Anthony’s has such positive standing within the wider Picton community. I believe this stems from the beautiful and caring students who attend our school, the supportive parent body and the dedicated staff who give so generously of their time.
One of the key initiatives we implemented in Term One was open tours of the school that were led by our Year Six leaders. Can I say how proud I am of our Year Six leaders. The positive feedback from the families speaks highly of the fine young men and women that they are becoming and highlights, in a very real way, how they can live out the words of our school prayer, to be ‘in your service to do good for others’.
Take Care

Principal
Please collect and send in your bread clips so we can help with the very worthy cause of funding wheelchairs for vulnerable people in Australia and South Africa and other countries. During Laudato Si’ Week we are reminded of our mission to respond to the cry of the poor. Every contribution that we can make adds up to make a big difference in our world.
Thank you for your support.

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
- Year 2 Sacrament of Penance
- Year 3 Sacrament of the Eucharist
- Year 6 Sacrament of Confirmation
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
Our first Sacrament for 2022 will be First Holy Communion.
Every year, by law, we have to receive consent from parents to photograph and use images of your child. The photos taken will be displayed in newsletters and/or Facebook to celebrate the fun times and achievements of students. Consent forms have been sent home today with your child, if you consent or do not consent to your child's photo being taken please tick the appropriate box and return the form to school.
If we do not receive a form for your child we will not include your child in photos.
Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the hall for any face to face purchases, as advised by the Catholic Education Office. Orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au Orders must be at the office by 9am Fridays.
