Newsletter Term Two Week Two

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

As we return from our Easter Holiday break and journey into a Term Two that is very different to what we know to be ‘normal’, I would like to firstly thank you once again for your support, kind words and generosity throughout this period of COVID-19. We all should be very proud of how we have responded both individually and collectively as a school community.

As we enter the Fourth week of Easter it was interesting to reflect on the Gospel passage from Sunday’s Mass. The passage from the Gospel of John has that lovely quote stating that Jesus Christ, came “so that all may have life and have it to the full”. (John 10:10) Our Bishop, Bishop Brian, speaks often about how this is our role, as a Catholic Community, to know the person who is Jesus. This is so prevalent for the world we live in, a world of uncertainty and doubt, that we follow the example of Jesus. A man of compassion, a man who provides certainty and reassurance.

In week three we enter Phase One of our Learning Continuity Plan for the return of students to school. As per my correspondence Phase One will provide students with the opportunity to attend school one day a week. It is important to emphasise that a key aspect of this return will be to focus on student well-being and allow students to reconnect with their peers and their classroom teachers. We are mindful of evaluating Phase One procedures and expectations, and in line with Diocesan directives, we will endeavour to inform parents, in a timely manner, about the plan to move towards Phase Two where we invite students back for two days a week.

We are also very mindful of the well-being of our families. I am aware that some families may be struggling in various ways at this time. Areas of mild to severe distress can be felt as a sense of the loss of community, or from the loss of work, financial concerns, illness, or the challenge of working and home learning. I encourage any family to reach out to the school for support. We have mechanisms in place for the pastoral care of our families. If the matter is of a personal or private nature, please email the office and ask for me or your child's teacher to call you.

Please continue to stay safe and healthy.

Take Care

It is without any hint of doubt that our Mothers deserve to be celebrated because they’re always putting others ahead of themselves. This Sunday we take the time to celebrate Mother’s Day. Of course, Mother’s Day isn’t just a day for celebrating our own mother. It’s a day for honouring all the women in our life who support and nurture us, from our sister to our grandmother.

On behalf of everyone at St Anthony’s, we hope this Sunday is a day where we spend time as a family, spoiling the wonderful women in our lives.

Have a great day!
