Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
This week, Catholic Schools Week, provides us all with an opportunity to reflect on what it means to belong to a Catholic Community. For me, when I reflect, the word privilege comes to mind. It is an absolute privilege to say that I proudly belong to the St Anthony’s Parish and school community. This was never more evident than over the last week with two significant events; our Ash Wednesday Mass and last Friday, our “Welcome to St Anthony’s Colour Explosion Day”.
During Ash Wednesday Mass, Fr Peter reminded us all of the sacredness this time is in the life of the church. The seasons of Lent and Easter offer us a unique way to reflect on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Lent provides us with the opportunity to walk with Jesus. We are all set the challenge to spend some time in prayer, to make time for others and ‘to go without’. This is a most significant time in our liturgical year and I encourage all of us, firstly as Catholics, and secondly as parents and staff in a Catholic school, to take up the challenge.
Last Friday was certainly an ‘explosion of colour’. In the words of one of our grandparents, “a day full of fun, laughter and happiness!”. At the very heart of this day is what it means to belong to a Catholic School community. A place where you feel welcome. A place where there is joy. A place where we can focus on placing the needs of others before our own by fundraising to support our school missions. We were certainly blessed with fine weather and a dedicated group of volunteers who made the day so successful. I would like to acknowledge all the parents and high school students who helped set up and run the colour stations. A big thank you to the Axiak family who generously donated the jumping castles and to the Falcone Family for the generous donation of bread rolls for the sausage sizzle. Thank you to Kelly in the canteen, to the Fleming family for providing the Coffee Van service and to the P&F who organised the BBQ and the generous donation of providing each student with a free sausage sizzle. Finally to the staff of St Anthony’s. They are to be commended for their dedication and passion to make St Anthony’s not only a good school, but a great school. I would especially like to acknowledge the staff Colour Explosion team, led by Mrs Sookee, who worked so tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the whole event together.
On Wednesday 4 March, at 2:15pm in the school hall, we invite parents and friends to come together to celebrate our Catholic Schools Week liturgy. This will be a time to acknowledge the privilege we all have in belonging to the Catholic community of St Anthony’s.

Principal
Catholic Schools Week (CSW) will be held from 1 -7 March. Our theme this year is ‘Embracing our future together’.
CSW is about celebrating the diversity and uniqueness of Catholic education and is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of our school community. CSW also marks the beginning of the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong enrolment period.
Please click here to access a CEDoW school enrolment package.
The week is designed to be a lively celebration and shared with members of our parish and the wider Catholic community. We started the celebration with our ‘Welcome To St Anthony’s Colour Run Explosion Day’ last Friday and we will be celebrating a liturgy this Wednesday 4 March at 2:15pm in the scholl hall.
Dear students, families and school communities,
Thank you for your school's participation in Catholic Schools Week from 1-7 March. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and showcase many of the fantastic things happening in your school every day, and in all our Catholic schools across the Diocese of Wollongong.
We thank you for working together in partnership with us to help make your school community such a vibrant, nurturing place of learning, faith, belonging and hope.
If you or a family member or friend would like to enrol your child in one of our schools, please download an enrolment package here.

Uniform Notifications
My sincere thanks for your efforts in ensuring that your children are wearing the correct school uniform and are equipped ready for the school year. We have received many positive comments regarding how smart the students look in their uniforms. I would like to acknowledge the dedicated work of our uniform shop volunteers who give so generously of their time.
Attached to this newsletter is our Uniform Policy Document. The key aspects of the school uniform that I would like to highlight are:
Haircuts
Students are required to wear their hair in a neat and tidy manner. Haircuts should be of an even grace. Hair should be well brushed and combed and it is assumed that hair will not be in such a condition as to invite comment, as per our policy.
School Shoes
Students are required to wear black leather shoes (not black canvas shoes or boots) and during sport days, joggers that are predominantly white.
Socks
Students are required to wear grey socks and during sport days white socks that are worn just above the ankles (not anklet socks). Please note that in preparation for the winter uniform in Term Two, girls will be permitted to wear long blue socks or stockings. The socks will be able to be purchased from the school uniform shop.
Smartwatches
With the ever evolving technology that we now have access to, the use of Smartwatches is a matter that we need to address. As per my correspondence at the beginning of the year, if your child is wearing a smartwatch to school, the protocols will be the same as per our student phone guidelines. Students will be expected to place their watch in the designated box in the classroom at the beginning of the day and be able to collect the watch at the end of the day.
Our next P and F meeting will be held on Friday 20 March at 1:00 pm in the school library.
