Newsletter Term Four Week Two

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Welcome back to Term Four!

This term is always a time of excitement, filled with numerous experiences and opportunities that cater to the diverse needs of our entire school community. We are delighted to provide a range of extra-curricular activities, with school camps being just one of the many memorable experiences we offer our students.

School camps hold a special place in the hearts of our students, and they often feature at the top of their lists when asked about their favorite memories of primary school. This week, Year 5 had their camp, staying at Wedderburn on Monday night. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to represent St Anthony’s and display resilience, persistence in various activities, including archery, the giant swing, rock climbing, and swimming in the pool. We are immensely grateful for the dedicated staff members who generously contribute their time and effort to organise and attend these camps. Their commitment and support make these experiences possible for our students.

Additionally, we are excited to announce the commencement of our 'Transition to Kinder' program for our 2024 Kindergarten Cohort. This program has proven to be highly successful in previous years and plays a crucial role in making the transition to school a smooth process for our youngest learners.

A vital aspect of this preparation is the organisation of class groupings for the upcoming year. In this regard, you will receive correspondence today outlining the appropriate protocols for parents and caregivers to inform us of any key information that will support the coordination of class groupings for the next year.

We look forward to a term filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.

Take Care

Mr Justin Devlin

Principal

Sacramental Programs

Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.

Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.

A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.

The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.

Orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au Orders must be at the office by 9am Fridays.
