Newsletter Term Three Week Six

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Today over ninety students, along with staff from St Anthony's participated in the Western Region Tahmoor Soccer Gala Day. St Anthony’s had the pleasure of coordinating the carnival and I would like to acknowledge Miss Paroz, Mrs Godden, Miss Conti, Mrs O’Brien and Miss McCoskery for their support in facilitating a wonderful day.

The clear focus of a gala day is inclusion and enjoyment. The children's participation and understanding that we were not playing for sheep stations allowed for our teams and the teams from other schools to have a really enjoyable day. In the words of one of the Year three students, “best day ever”.

A special mention must go to the St Anthony’s teams who played against the Mater Dei School soccer teams. The children displayed a true sense of good character and wonderful sportsmanship. Some special moments were witnessed by the crowd of spectators.

At St Anthony’s we are truly blessed to have such dedicated teachers and very supportive parents who provide the opportunity for all children in Years Three to Six to participate in a range of sporting activities. As stated, the focus is about inclusion and participation for all children.

Take Care

Mr Justin Devlin

Principal

?️Exploring the World of Politics: Our Unforgettable Virtual Trip to NSW State Parliament! ?️

We wanted to share how utterly awesome our Year 6 class's virtual visit to the NSW State Parliament was! ?? We took part in the "Visit us at our house" program, and let me tell you, it was a journey of discovery like no other.

The highlight of the visit? Meeting the incredible Sergeant at Arms! ? He walked us through the fascinating world of the bicameral system of government, which lies at the very heart of how our state operates. Can you believe we have two separate chambers – the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council – working together to make decisions that shape our state's future? ?️?
And let's not forget the jaw-dropping historical facts that paved the way for our current state government structure. ? The Sergeant at Arms didn't hold back on sharing some truly gruesome stories that led to the evolution of our system. Who knew history could be so thrilling? ?

We couldn't be prouder of our Year 6 students for engaging with enthusiasm and asking some seriously thought-provoking questions. Learning about how our government functions and the stories behind its evolution is a crucial step towards becoming responsible citizens who understand the impact of our choices on society.

A huge shout out to the NSW State Parliament for giving us this incredible opportunity, and to our students for being such curious and engaged learners. ? Let's keep that passion for learning alive and continue to explore the world around us!

Stay curious, stay inspired, and remember: the future of our state is in your hands! ??

?️ A Day of Inspiration at Mary MacKillop Place! ?️

Year 6 had an incredible visit to Mary MacKillop Place! ?? This was more than just a visit; it was a journey into the life and legacy of a remarkable soul.

Standing before the tomb of Saint Mary MacKillop was truly a humbling experience. The aura of her devotion and strength resonated through the air, reminding us of her extraordinary journey as Australia's first saint. ?

Equipped with our iPads, we embarked on a Digital Reflection Journal adventure. ? Capturing our thoughts, emotions, and learnings as we wandered through the museum was an immersive way to connect with her story. And the artifacts! Each one spoke of her compassion and dedication, preserving her legacy for generations to come. ??

Can you believe it? We had the incredible privilege of touching Mary MacKillop's very own writing desk. ?️ The connection we felt was indescribable – a tangible link to her life's work.

As the day drew to a close, we gathered for a beautiful Mass celebrated by Father Adrian. ?? Surrounded by the history, devotion, and sense of purpose that Mary MacKillop embodied, we found our spirits lifted and our hearts filled with gratitude.

We are immensely proud of our Year 6 students for embracing this experience with open hearts and minds. Let's carry forward the values and inspiration we've encountered today as we continue on our own journeys.

Thank you, Mary MacKillop, for your enduring light that guides us. ?️

Sacramental Programs

Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.

Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.

A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.

The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
