Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
Yesterday we celebrated our St Anthony’s Feast Day with the opportunity to join together as a catholic community. The wonderful Mass, celebrated by Fr Peter in the school hall, is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children, the gift of attending Mass and celebrating the blessed Eucharist. Fr Peter reminded us all during our homily that we are blessed with the opportunity each and everyday to shine our light on the world and to always strive to be the best version of ourselves. It was an absolute honour and privilege to observe the vast number of parents, carers and grandparents who joined in the celebrations of our feast day.
The feast day activities yesterday reminded us all of the joy of belonging to such an inclusive and supportive community. I would like to acknowledge the support of the parent community who set up and organised the cooking of the sausage sizzle for the students. This is a lovely tradition that the students look forward to.
The very essence of who St Anthony’s was, centres around his service in order to do good for others. Each and every day I stand in awe of the work of staff whose dedication and commitment to serve the community of St Anthony's is their way of shining a light on the world around them.
Take Care

As part of the challenge, our budding artists dedicated their time and creativity to create and capture unique artworks. Each stroke of the brush, every pencil line, and every burst of colour showcased their talent and passion for making a difference. Their artworks not only displayed their artistic abilities but also conveyed messages of hope, unity, and support for refugees.
We are thrilled to announce that our students have raised an impressive US$135 through their efforts. This contribution will go towards supporting refugees internationally, providing them with vital resources and assistance during challenging times.
The Students Rebuild challenge has not only allowed our students to express themselves artistically but has also nurtured their empathy and global awareness. By participating in this initiative, they have gained a deeper understanding of the plight faced by refugees and the importance of lending a helping hand. On June 13th, our school joyously celebrated the Feast Day of St Anthony with a memorable Mass and Family Picnic. The day was filled with an air of reverence and jubilation as our school community gathered to honour the patron saint. The Mass was a beautiful and sacred occasion, with students, teachers, and families coming together to offer prayers and gratitude. Following the Mass, the festivities continued with a delightful family picnic, where laughter and joy filled the air. Families brought together by a sausage sizzle lunch, strengthening the bonds within our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the families and volunteers who contributed to the success of this special day. Your dedication and support made this Feast Day celebration a truly memorable and cherished event. A special mention to Pamela and Benjamin Falcone who generously donated all the bread and rolls for the day.
Please join us for our next P and F Meeting on Friday 23 June at 1:00 pm in the school library. Parents, Grandparents, Carers and Friends are welcome to gather in the school library for a tea, coffee and afternoon tea before we begin our P and F meeting.
On Monday 26 June, Year 3 will be attending their excursion at The Australian Museum, Sydney. The bus will be leaving the school at 7:45 am sharp and students will need to be picked up by parents on their return to school at approximately 3:30 pm. An event has been set up in your Compass Parent Portal. We ask all parents/carers to log on, read all the important information and give consent for your child to attend.
Father Peter will welcome parents, carers, families, parishioners, students and staff from selected classes to join him for a Mass every second week. On Wednesday 28 June at 10:00 am am Mass will be held by Year 5W and Years 1R and 3W will join them to celebrate.
The School's Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 21 July, 2023 at The Narellan Sports Hub, 6 Porrende Street, Narellan. The children will be catching buses to and from the carnival departing at 9am and returning in time for the afternoon buses. All children are expected to go by bus to Narellan Sports Hub so the rolls can be marked. Parents are permitted to take their children at the conclusion of the carnival after informing their child's teacher.
All children are expected to attend and participate at the Athletics Carnival. Children who are unable to participate should still attend the carnival and they may assist the teacher on the day. Throughout the day the children will be participating in running races, ball games, novelty events and some field events. They will need to wear their sports uniform, hat and pack sunscreen and water. The children may wear their purchased coloured house group t-shirts. Those children who have not purchased a coloured t-shirt will need to wear their school sports shirt. The class teacher will have all medication and action plans with them. If your child has any medical condition that the school is unaware of, please speak to their teacher or the office staff.
We ask all parents/carers to log on, read all the important information and give consent for your child to attend.
At St Anthony’s, we implement the Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L) framework. PB4L is an organisational framework for behaviour support to enhance respectful relationships and engagement of students in their learning. It is an evidence-based framework for implementation within all Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong school communities, Kindergarten to Year 12.
When responding to inappropriate behaviours at St Anthony’s, we refer to a corrective response sequence with a focus on learning. Please refer to the Classroom Correction Sequence, the Playground Correction Sequence and an Explanation of the Card System for further information.
If you have any questions about PB4L, please feel free to contact me via the office.

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
