Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
As we move into this religious time of Lent, it is an opportunity to reflect on and to be grateful for the many wonderful opportunities that we have in our lives.
On Shrove Tuesday, the School Captains of our school, Ivy and Blake and I had the privilege to attend the Diocesan Caritas Project Compassion launch. The key message that aligned beautifully with the fundamental principle of both Lent and Project Compassion was that we have a collective responsibility to acknowledge, pray, support and serve those in the greatest of need. Bishop Brian Mascord told us that traditionally people put money into Project Compassion boxes but he said donating money isn’t enough. We need to go out of our way to help the people in need. That through a collective sense of compassion, hope, care and generosity, we can truly make a difference for this generation and those to come.
During this season of lent we pray that we all will continue to work with the school community to implement initiatives that support the needs of others.
URGENT MATTER - FOR ALL PARENTS ATTENTION
Parents & Friends Annual General Meeting - Monday 6 March. 6:30pm in the School Library or Via Zoom.
In response to the call for parents to nominate, this year, for the key executive positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer we have, at present, no one has been nominated for any of these key positions. This is of real concern and we run the risk of having no parents supporting this important organisation that builds on the community connection between school and the parents. Our P&F Annual General Meeting is next Monday 6 March at 6:30pm in the school library, or via zoom, and I therefore ask that you again strongly consider yourself or please engage in a conversation with other parents who may be able to support the P&F association.
If you have any questions regarding this important matter please do not hesitate to contact the school office to speak to me directly.
Take Care
Mr Justin Devlin
Principal

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the hall for any face to face purchases, as advised by the Catholic Education Office. Orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au Orders must be at the office by 9am Fridays.
