Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
Last Thursday 26 May was Sorry Day and the commencement of Reconciliation Week. These events are very significant for our nation. This year the theme of Reconciliation Week is “Be Brave. Make Change.” This is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians. As a school community we came together in prayer to acknowledge this important event and I would like to thank Mrs Spiteri and Miss Benson, our Aboriginal Education School Support Officer, who coordinated a very reverent and spiritual liturgy.
"God of love and justice, we pray for those who still suffer sadness
because of the government policies of the past,
may they be healed by us walking the talk of your Gospel command to love.
Help us all to learn the message of justice taught by Pope Francis
who has instructed us to go out and
interact with all our sisters and brothers."
On Saturday night I had the pleasure to join with the parish community at the Saturday vigil Mass in supporting our Year Three students from St Anthony’s and children from other schools in their preparation for the celebration of First Holy Communion. I ask that you join with the parish in keeping the students in your prayers, as they continue to prepare for this wonderful sacramental celebration.
Take Care
Justin Devlin
Principal
The staff at St Anthony's have notice a high number of students arriving to school late or being picked up early.
Regular attendance by each child is a legal requirement. Therefore, parents and the school must assume the responsibility of regular attendance.
PARENTS ARE ADVISED THAT LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY DEPARTURES ARE DISCOURAGED UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY BECAUSE
- Of the legal requirement of regular school attendance
- Of the interruption to class routines and learning
- Of the negative impact and disruption to children’s learning and development.
While parents are legally responsible for the regular attendance of their children, school staff, monitor part or whole day absences as part of their duty of care.
Please note that students should only be picked up early during school hours in exceptional circumstances.

Please collect and send in your bread clips so we can help with the very worthy cause of funding wheelchairs for vulnerable people in Australia and South Africa and other countries. Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
- Year 2 Sacrament of Penance
- Year 3 Sacrament of the Eucharist
- Year 6 Sacrament of Confirmation
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
Our first Sacrament for 2022 will be First Holy Communion.
18 June at 5pm or 19 June at 8:30 am
Every year, by law, we have to receive consent from parents to photograph and use images of your child. The photos taken will be displayed in newsletters and/or Facebook to celebrate the fun times and achievements of students. Consent forms have been sent home today with your child, if you consent or do not consent to your child's photo being taken please tick the appropriate box and return the form to school.
If we do not receive a form for your child we will not include your child in photos.
Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the hall for any face to face purchases, as advised by the Catholic Education Office. Orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au Orders must be at the office by 9am Fridays.
