Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and involvement in the life of our wonderful school. Despite the challenges that have confronted us all this year, in reflection, we have achieved so much together. A highlight was the way the students settled back into the routines of school life after the remote learning period and then the celebration of our Fun Day. The sound of laughter and the joy of happy faces was much needed and well deserved. The day also highlighted the tremendous support of our parents, led by our dedicated P&F executive. The amount of organisation and the professional manner in which the day was organised allowed for the whole community, and especially our students, to achieve what the whole day was about … ‘to have fun!’
Thank you to our very dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the year, demonstrating tremendous adaptability and commitment in the face of a global pandemic, and the onset of remote learning. The resumption of face-to-face teaching was welcomed by all and while COVID restrictions and guidelines mandated a new normal, the focus on faith and learning, a commitment to adhering to safety protocols and procedures and ensuring the wellbeing of all remained our high priorities.
A special thank you to Fr Peter for his unwavering support for our Parish school. He is an inspiration to us all through the work of his ministry, constantly positive and deeply committed to our parish community.
Next Wednesday we will say farewell to Year 6. In congratulating Year 6, I would also like to acknowledge our leaving families. As your time at St Anthony’s comes to an end, I extend my sincere thanks for the many ways that you have supported our school throughout your association.
On behalf of the staff of St Anthony’s I wish you a wonderful time with your family over the holiday break and a very happy and holy Christmas.
Take Care & God Bless
Mr Justin Devlin

Before and After School Care
Due to COVID we are unable to collect food for hampers to assist the needy in our local area, so we are inviting your child to earn extra pocket money to donate to
families who are struggling at this difficult time.
Students are encouraged to complete jobs at home such as washing up/stacking or emptying the dishwasher, tidying their room, helping to wash the car, taking out the recycling etc, to earn extra pocket money to donate to those in need.
We will be collecting the money over the next 2 weeks (29 November to 10 December) in each classroom. On Monday Dec 13 the winning class will be announced.
Parents who wish to donate to St Vincent de Paul’s Christmas Appeal can send into the office an envelope addressed to ‘St Vincent de Paul’s Christmas Appeal’ with your child’s / children’s name on the outside. Donations will be recorded and the winning class will enjoy a cooked hamburger lunch by chef Mr Devlin, the runner up class will enjoy hot chips and 3rd place will enjoy a Zooper Doopers.
Thank you, in anticipation of your support, in this important and fun fund-raising venture.
Mrs Julie Smith and Mrs Anne Cardingley.
Our End of Year Whole School Mass will be held on Friday 10 December at 10 am under the shelter and unfortunately due to the current Covid restrictions parents cannot attend. After the Mass at 12:00 pm our ‘End of Year Awards’ will be presented at staggered times through Kindergarten, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 via Zoom. The approximate times of the awards for each stage will be as follows:
Kindergarten - 12:00 pm
Stage 1 – 12:20 pm
Stage 2 – 12:45 pm
Stage 3 – 1:10 pm
Parents will be contacted via phone if your child is receiving an award and the zoom link will be sent out prior to the day.
Can students please wait till Week 11 to hand out Christmas Cards and Candy Canes to their friends. Thank You.
The school office has been inundated with a multiple amount of phone calls from parents changing plans to their child' afternoon dismal. We understand that plans may change for appointments however to cause less disruption to the classrooms, we ask that parents please try to stick to the arrangements you made with your child in the morning.
Last Friday night our Year 6 students had their 'Fun Night & Movie Under the Stars'. From start to finish the whole night was fantastic and the students had a blast. The students were treated with dinner from 'Smoke and Grill', fairy floss, snow cones, popcorn, a photo booth and an outdoor inflatable movie screen. A night with this much fun wouldn't have been possible without the staff and our year 6 parents. A very big Thank You to all the Year 6 parents who planned, organised, co-ordinated and cleaned up on the night.

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
- Year 2 Sacrament of Penance
- Year 3 Sacrament of the Eucharist
- Year 6 Sacrament of Confirmation
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.

Life presents us with many joys and challenges, it may be the birth of a child, the loss of employment or the death of a family member. We are privileged to, and benefit from, living in a community that cares for us, no matter what our circumstances. At times, we may find ourselves in a position where some extra care and support would be welcomed to help us through a period of hardship or need. If you are in need of support, please contact Sister Julie on 0418 674 452 who will respond to you confidentially.
Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the hall for any face to face purchases, as advised by the Catholic Education Office. Orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au
