Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
As Term Two draws to a close we are able to give thanks for the opportunity to come together to share each other's company, celebrate each other’s faith journey and acknowledge the very essence of who we are as Catholic community.
In the last two weeks of this term we have celebrated our feast day with a wonderful community event, reflected on each child's learning progress with the sending home of student semester one reports and engaging in parent teacher interviews. Our exceptional Year Six leaders have led us in beautiful assembly and tomorrow we will come together to cheer on the the talents of our students at our Athletics carnival. For me all these events highlight the many graces and blessings we are provided with and also reminds us all of the many reasons we have to express our gratitude for all that has taken place in our school and parish communities.
I pray that the holiday break provides us with the opportunity to spend time as a family and enjoy the time to rest. Can I take this opportunity to humbly say thank you to the dedicated staff who give so much of their time in providing a learning environment centred on the needs of each and every individual student.
Take Care

Before and After School Care
Tomorrow is St Anthony's Athletics Carnival, which will be held at Douglas Park Sportsground, Camden Rd Douglas Park. Students are expected to go by bus to Douglas Park and will need to be at school by 9:00 am so the rolls can be taken. Kellie from the canteen will be open and suppling sausage sizzle and snacks for students and parents to purchase. A coffee van will be on site and will have EFTPOS facilities.
On Thursday 17 June, 75 students participated in the Western Region Netball Gala Day at Coronation Park, Minto. Although it was windy and cold, the sun was shining and the students had a great day playing netball. All students took to the courts with enthusiasm. As always, the students represented their school with pride and were a credit to St Anthony’s both on and off the courts. A very big thank you goes to the wonderful parents who managed the teams on the day. Without your assistance it would not be possible for us to send so many teams.
Well done to all teams!

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
- Year 2 Sacrament of Penance
- Year 3 Sacrament of the Eucharist
- Year 6 Sacrament of Confirmation
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.

Attached are the steps to help our parents, carers and students better understand the gold and silver sticker chart award system.
We invite all St Anthony's parents, carers and friends to join our P & F for a meeting on Friday 23 July at 1:00 pm in the school library.
Life presents us with many joys and challenges, it may be the birth of a child, the loss of employment or the death of a family member. We are privileged to, and benefit from, living in a community that cares for us, no matter what our circumstances. At times, we may find ourselves in a position where some extra care and support would be welcomed to help us through a period of hardship or need. If you are in need of support, please contact Sister Julie on 0418 674 452 who will respond to you confidentially.
The uniform shop will be open on Fridays from 9:00 am for orders that have been emailed or handed in to the office. Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the hall for any face to face purchases, as advised by the Catholic Education Office. Orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au
Every year, by law, we have to receive consent from parents to photograph and use images of your child. The photos taken will be displayed in newsletters and/or Facebook to celebrate the fun times and achievements of students. Consent forms have been sent home today with your child, if you consent or do not consent to your child's photo being taken please tick the appropriate box and return the form to school.
If we do not receive a form for your child we will not include your child in photos.
