Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
On behalf of Fr. Peter, our parish priest, the staff, and the entire school community, I extend a warm welcome to the new school year. I hope you all had a rejuvenating holiday and are now prepared for what promises to be an exciting year ahead at St. Anthony’s.
It was such a pleasure to see our students enter the school with such happy smiles and greeting their teachers and friends with much enthusiasm. This is certainly a testament of the supportive and caring culture at St Anthony’s, a school where sincere care is shown constantly by students, staff, parents and carers.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new families who have joined our school community in 2025, especially those parents who will commence the journey with their child at St Anthony’s for the very first time. Welcome to St Anthony’s! We also welcome our new staff members; Mrs Amy Rayner, Miss Georgie Fielding, Jayda Bartlett and Miss Lucy Huxley. I am sure our new staff, students and families will experience.
Over the next few weeks our teachers will be focusing on classroom procedures and structures that support learning. This is an opportunity for students to engage in establishing routines for learning, which will optimise student engagement. This includes organising the learning space, establishing classroom procedures and introducing routines and structures that guide student behaviour and learning engagement.
This year, Pope Francis has stated ‘Christian hope is not mere optimism’ but a deep trust that God’s love is greater than any challenge. In 2025, the Catholic Church’s message of hope centres on the Jubilee Year, themed ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. Pope Francis calls for spiritual renewal, urging Catholics to trust in God and be signs of hope in the world. As we navigate the challenges of the year to come, let us not forget the power of prayer to guide and sustain us.
One of the ways we cultivate a culture of hope in our school is through the daily recitation of our school prayer. It is a simple yet profound tradition that reminds us of our connection to each other and to the divine.
O God
We honour the memory of St Anthony, your devoted servant.
May his spiritual help make us strong in your service to do good for others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
St Anthony Pray for Us.
St Mary of the Cross Pray for Us.
Take Care
Mr Justin Devlin
Principal
It has been a pleasure to welcome our Kindergarten students to St Anthony’s. The kindergarten students bring such joy to the school community with their wonder and awe and inquisitive minds. A warm welcome to our new kindergarten parents and carers. It was wonderful to see both familiar faces and new faces today as you supported the transition processes we have in place for our kindergarten students. It is great to welcome you to our school community.

We have made a change to the distribution schedule of our school newsletter. Going forward, our newsletter will now be published three times per term, instead of every second week. The newsletters will be sent out via our Compass Parent Portal in weeks two, five, and eight of each term.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to keeping you informed through our updated schedule.
St Anthony's opening whole school Mass will be held on Friday 14 February 10:00 am at Tahmoor Church.
Students will arrive at school by 9:00 am to get their name marked and place school bags in their classroom. Students in years one - six will then catch a bus to Tahmoor Church for Mass at 10:00 am. After Mass students will return to school by bus for lunch and first break. Permission for students to travel by bus to Tahmoor Church has already been given when parents signed the 'General Permission Note' at enrolment.
At this opening school mass, Year Six students who have been nominated to be a part of a leadership group will be presented with their leadership badges. I look forward to the whole parish community coming together to worship and celebrate a wonderful start to the new school year.
Parents, Carers, Grandparents and Friends are welcome to join us at Tahmoor for Mass.
We are reaching out for any donations to add to our Sensory Play Spaces (Primary one coming soon!) If you have any of the following items that you no longer need, we would greatly appreciate your contributions:
- Dolls and doll clothes
- Matchbox cars
- Trucks/Diggers
- Action figures
- Art easels
- Water play items
- Fairy garden trinkets
- Sandpit items
Donations can be dropped off at the school office. Your generosity will help create a rich and engaging environment for our children who need a quiet, safe play area to enjoy throughout the year.
Thank you for your support!
Can parents and carers please update your child's lunch bag with the correct class details to avoid confusion and to ensure that each child's lunch is delivered to the right class.
Magdalene Open Afternoon will be held at the College on Thursday 27 February 3:45 - 7:30pm
An invitation is extended to any families/couples/friends interested in taking part in the offertory at the weekend Masses. If you would like to be an active participant in this important task, please arrive 15 minutes before Mass and make yourself known to the greeters who will introduce you to the offertory organiser for that Mass. If you are unsure and would like further information, please call the Parish Office on 46 832 230.

Sacramental Programs
Religious Education is a priority in Catholic schools. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and outlines what is needed to live a Catholic life. Sacramental programs are Parish based, Parish coordinated, family focused and school supported.
Each year the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the Parish.
A Parish based program caters to the needs of all participants. In this way children from all schools receive the same preparation for each sacrament.
The Parish based, family focused approach to Sacramental programs is widely used throughout Australia as the preferred approach. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process. Parents are the first educators of children in the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. Parents involvement in Sacramental preparation is crucial in shaping the values and attitudes of each child. So it is vital, for the continual spiritual growth of the child, that the families involve themselves in the Sacramental life of Parish.
The uniform shop is now open for face to face purchases every Friday from 9 am. Otherwise orders can be emailed to the school via info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au
Orders must be at the office by 9am Fridays.
