Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Tomorrow we will mark the beginning of Lent with a school Mass in the hall. The Mass will be celebrated by Fr Peter and it will be attended by Years One to Six. Our Kindergarten students will celebrate the importance of this day with a liturgical celebration in their classroom. The Mass will also be our opening school Mass for the year and in accordance with our traditions, this will provide us with the opportunity to acknowledge our Year Six students as leaders of our school and present them with their leadership badges.

Whilst we look forward to gathering tomorrow to mark the significance of Ash Wednesday by joining together in prayer and reflection, we are also very aware of the disappointment that stems from the Covid-19 restrictions preventing our parents and wider school community from joining with us. A key element of who we are as a Catholic Community is to come together as a school to support the faith of our students, and their families, who we serve on behalf of the Parish of St Anthony’s. During these challenging times our commitment is, and always will be, to strive to do our best to support and nurture the faith of  the whole community. We are very blessed to have Fr Peter who is always so open and willing to support the nurturing of the school community.

Today is Shrove Tuesday and our Stage Three students participated in an online launch of Caritas’ Project Compassion for the season of the Lent. The launch asked us all to reflect on how we can ‘Be More!’. For me this was an interesting question and one that we discussed with the children. Be more considerate, be more generous, be more caring, be more …. ?

May our prayer for this season of Lent be from Psalm 46:10: “be still and know that I am God.

Take Care
