My artwork is titled Overwhelming Thoughts of Dynasty. This piece captures the overwhelming stress that Mary would have felt after being told she would be spiritually gifted a child inspired by the scripture passage The Annunciation (Luke 1:26-36). A responsibility both sacred and daunting. The weight of her destiny, the pressure of carrying such a profound role, and the uncertainty of the future are conveyed through the use of dark, swirling colours that represent her inner turmoil. The subtle glow around her figure hints at the divine nature of her experience, while the sharp, jagged lines symbolise the anxiety and fear that come with such a life-altering revelation.
I’ve drawn this with black and blue pen which makes this piece more dramatic. And the way I implemented these qualities was through a darker perspective. I am inspired by Mary as she managed to work through her feelings and emotions and make peace with the situation and work through it. I hope I, too, can do this at a deeper spiritual level.
