Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Returning to St Anthony’s after a period of leave brings a deep joy in reconnecting with our community. With the support of the Catholic Education Office, I was blessed to embark on a spiritual sabbatical, which provided valuable time for prayer and reflection. This period allowed me to renew my spirit and refocus on our mission as a Catholic school community.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Mrs. Julieann Ferguson and the school’s leadership team for their dedicated support and guidance in upholding the school’s mission and ensuring a positive environment for all students and staff. Their commitment to fostering a strong, collaborative school culture has been invaluable to our community.

Last Friday 1 November we celebrated All Saints' Day with a very moving liturgy. The liturgy led by Mrs Julie Smith, the Year Six Spirituality team and Year Four White reminded us that in the Catholic tradition, November is traditionally a month of remembrance. The month begins with the Solemnity of All Saints on 1 November and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed-All Souls Day on 2 November. Although many of the known saints have their own feast day during the year, on November 1 the Catholic Church remembers them all through the Solemnity of All Saints.

The gospel reading on Friday was the famous scripture passage, ‘The Beatitudes’. During this passage Jesus uses that lovely phrase, ‘Blessed are they …’ which is sometimes translated to ‘Happy are they …’. On Friday, after the liturgy I reflected on how “Happy are we …’ to have so many people who give so generously to the life of St Anthony’s.

Happy are we … to have parents and carers who actively engage and are so                                    supportive of our  school.

Happy are we … for a staff who are dedicated and caring.

Happy are we … for our students. They are the very reason we do what we do!

Warm regards,

Justin Devlin
