Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
Welcome back to the beginning of Term Two. We hope that the holiday break was enjoyable for you and your family. During this term there will continue to be opportunities to support your child, events to look forward to and things to celebrate.
We have now experienced four weeks since Jesus rose on Easter Sunday. At Mass on Sunday we heard the story of Jesus as “The Good Shepherd”. This Gospel story comes from the Gospel of John and throughout this Gospel we are reminded of how we live our life and the example Jesus provides for us. By remembering this throughout the year, we can find relief from the burden of worries and problems, as well as finding greater joy in the blessings of everyday life.
Mothers Day
As we enter the month of May, our Catholic tradition is to remember Mary - the mother of Jesus. “Mary, our mother,” is one of Mary’s most common titles. “Mothering,” the sense of being cared for and protected, supported, and understood, is the human being’s primal need. “Mother’s Day” is the call to all of us to remember those who have “mothered” us in life and then be conscious of our call to mother those around us as well. Next week at St Anthony’s we acknowledge all the mothers, grandmothers and mother-like figures in our lives. We give thanks for them and pray that they are enriched by their lives with us as we are with them.
Anzac Day Ceremonies
As a school community we are incredibly grateful for all the students, parents and families who supported the Picton ANZAC DAY March last Tuesday 25 April. We had over 80 students represent our school in the March and were supported by St Anthony's staff as well. We were also so pleased to see a number of students attend the Honour The Fallen event at both Thirlmere and Picton Cemeteries on the last Friday of the school holidays. These types of events highlight to our students that we belong to a wider local community who come together to celebrate special occasions.
Take Care
