Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
Over the past two weeks the extreme weather conditions, as well as dealing with Covid-19, have certainly challenged our resilience and wellbeing. I would like to firstly, extend my sincere gratitude to the parent community for your support as we faced the reality of closing the school for specific days due to the unpredictable weather conditions and in particular, the water levels of Stonequarry Creek. As communicated, decisions regarding making the school non-operational were always made with the safety of the students, the staff and the wider school community as the highest priority. I understand that these decisions have wide ranging implications for parents and again, I would like to extend my thanks for your support and positive feedback regarding our effective communication strategies and measured response plan.
I would also like to acknowledge the resilience of our students and staff. In what has been a somewhat disruptive start to the school year, I continue to be in awe of the way our students bounce back from the challenges they face. The main focus of our school continues to centre around the expected routines and expectations that lead to positive learning environments, both in and outside the classroom setting.
‘To be challenged’ is certainly a statement that has become synonymous with our community of St Anthony’s. During this time of lent we are reminded that Jesus also faced his own challenges as he spent forty days in the desert. He experienced doubt, uncertainty and fear just as we do. Just as his resolve was tested, so is ours. During these times we are reminded, through the example of Jesus, that prayer and some time for contemplation helps to strengthen our spiritual and mental wellbeing.
Our prayer for the weeks ahead is that we are able to enjoy some sunshine, which will bring some joy and more importantly, a sense of normality to the rest of the term.
Take Care
Justin Devlin
