Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

This week we join with all the other Catholic schools in the Diocese to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. During this week we take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding contribution that Catholic schools continue to make to the education of young students in our care. It is a time to give thanks for the wonderful teaching and learning that takes place each day in every classroom.

As part of Catholic Week celebrations Years Four to Six will join with Fr Peter in celebrating our Opening School Ash Wednesday Mass in the school hall, starting at 10:00am. Kinder, Year One, Year Two and Year Three will receive the ashes in grade liturgies. The present climate, both weather and Covid-19, has dictated a change in how we were hoping to celebrate this important event. The students and staff were so looking forward to joining with the wider community in celebrating this important liturgical eucharistic Mass. I apologise for the change of plans in regards to this Mass but it is important that we continue to stay vigilant to safety procedures that support our staff, the students and our wider parent community.

The seasons of Lent and Easter offer us a unique way to reflect on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Lent provides us with the opportunity to walk with Jesus. We are all set the challenge to spend some time in prayer, to make time for others and ‘to go without’. This is a most significant time in our liturgical year and I encourage all of us, firstly as Catholics, and secondly as parents and staff in a Catholic school, to take up the challenge.

Take Care

Justin Devlin
