Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
Last Sunday at Mass we heard the famous scripture passage, ‘The Beatitudes’. During this passage Jesus uses that lovely phrase, ‘Blessed are they …’ which is sometimes translated to ‘Happy are they …’. In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus shares the important message that:
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
As I listened to my local Parish Priest, Fr Duane, reflect on the gospel he spoke about the message Jesus was sharing with us, one of humility, charity, and giving oneself to others as opposed to the ‘what I am going to get out of this’ intrinsic self belief system. At the very heart of who we are as Catholic Community is the opportunity to be like St Anthony, to desire to help others which will lead to the internal sense of positivity and happiness.
This week the teaching staff are seeking the opportunity to listen to parents share their thoughts, insights, and wisdom regarding their child or children. Listening Interviews are an integral part of building the relationship between student, parent and teacher. I would like to thank the parent community for taking up the opportunity to engage with teachers and also acknowledge the professionalism of the staff of St Anthony’s, who on a daily basis, seek to be like the message of the Beatitudes and find the good in all that we can do.
Take Care
