Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Research shows that our strength of hope is made up of two important elements—think of these as the will and the way. The will is our motivation and our belief we can reach a goal. The way is our ability to come up with options to get to that goal. In our present world where our sense of hope can become somewhat diminished, it is important for our students to have the opportunity to feel success. In reaching desired goals, their optimism and positive outlook for what lies ahead, will manifest through all elements of their physical, social and mental wellbeing.

Yesterday our Director of Schools, Mr Peter Hill shared with us a message that centred on the importance of hope. He spoke about a line from one of his favourite movies, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ that said, “hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things”. For the present world we live in Peter reminded us of the words of Pope Francis, who wrote:

You can’t hope alone. Maintain a connection with the community.

Get up and let people help you to your feet.’

I continue to invite parents to please let us know, if there is anything that we can help and support you with as we journey through the world we live in. Connection with community comes in many forms and I remind parents that we have various ways in which you can communicate and connect with the school:

  • our online feedback form on our Home Learning Hub.
  • our school email account. info@sapdow.catholic.edu.au
  • our class learning communication platforms - SeeSaw and Google Classroom.
  • contacting the school office.

Finally at the very end of ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ there is a lovely line that says: “I hope to see my friend and shake his hand”. I look forward, with a sense of hope and patience, to the day when we are standing at the school gates, shaking hands with each other, welcoming all students back onsite. Until that time I highly recommend for our parents, if you haven't already done so, to curl up on the lounge and watch the movie. It is worth watching!

Look after yourselves and each other. Thank you again for working with us in the ongoing safety, growth and development of the students in our collective care.

Stay safe and connected.

    Take Care
